Dollywood Rides Will Put the Thrill in Your Vacation!
There are many types of Dollywood rides to entertain all members of
your family. There are roller coasters, water rides, family rides and
kiddie rides. You also can visit a country fair with all the Fair games
and rides you would find at your own County Fair. And a must ride would
be the award winning Roller Coaster “Thunderhead”!
Here is a breakdown of some of the most popular of the Dollywood rides:
Mountain Slidewinder
Your adventure begins as you climb through the actual mountain terrain on your way to boarding this water toboggan thriller. The Mountain Slidewinder literally slides down the mountainside along high-banked curves at breathtaking speeds.
Timber Tower
This ride is fairly new, just opening in 2006.
Costing about 6.5 million dollars, Timber Tower is the first and only
ride of its kind in North America. The Tower is 65 feet tall. Situated
in the middle of a large pond, passengers are taken to the top of the
tower and then the tower begins to sway, rock and rotate as if it is
falling into the pond. Chances are good that you will get wet on this
Dollywood ride and you'll certainly have fun!
Blazing Fury
This is an indoor roller coaster that takes
you through an 1880 town that is on fire. You’ll be recruited to
help put out the fire. Of course the best way to put out a fire is with
plenty of water! Yes, you will get wet! The animated sets of the town
on fire are very entertaining.
Dollywood Express
Close your eyes and let the Dollywood
Express take you back in time when the train was the only way to get in
and out of the mountains. This authentic 110 pound coal fired steam
engine train will take you through the scenic mountains surrounding
Dollywood. The five mile journey will deliver some wonderful views of
the Smoky Mountains.
Tennessee Tornado
A huge tornado swept through an old
Tennessee Mining Company and twisted the ore into what we now know as
the Tennessee Tornado. This triple loop roller coaster will take you
down a 128 foot drop through an actual mountain at speeds of over 70
MPH.
The Thunderhead
The Thunderhead Roller Coaster is the
wildest ride in the woods! This coaster is located between two
mountains. This wooden roller coaster takes you on a daring ride which
includes a drop of 100 feet and top speeds of 55 MPH. The ride is
highlighted by the world’s first “fly through”
station where the coaster comes through the station on a track 8 feet
above the loading platform giving the guests a preview of what is to
come.
Daredevil Falls
Daredevil Falls is a super flume ride.
Passengers begin their ride at the base camp and as they travel down
the river they encounter many obstacles during this almost 4 minute
ride. As they narrowly escape a spinning saw blade at the end, their
boat is diverted to a reject log channel which propels them over the
river falls and into the pond below.
Smoky Mountain River Rampage
If you have wanted to experience the thrill
of white water rafting in the Smoky Mountains, you can do so on this
Dollywood ride! The Smoky Mountain River Rampage is full of dips,
turns, twists and a good soaking as you run the rapids.
Smoky Mountain Wilderness Adventure Tour
This indoor simulator ride will take you on
an adventure that you won’t forget! Dolly’s cousin Clovis
invented an all terrain vehicle to view the Smokies. He takes Dolly as
the tour guide and you can ride along as the two encounter one
adventure after another as you take in all the beautiful surroundings
of the Smoky Mountains on your trip.
Wonder Wheel
Every midway of any county fair has a
Ferris wheel. Dollywood is no exception as you enjoy riding on this 60
foot high wheel. It will give you a birds eye view of the park.
Dizzy Disk
Get ready to get dizzy! This ride will take
you back and forth, going higher and higher while at the same time
spinning in circles. No wonder they call it the Dizzy Disk!
New! Mystery Mine
Opened in Spring of 2007. This is
a $17.5 million steel roller coaster ride that takes place in an
abandoned mine. The ride will handle 1,000 riders an hour. People are
arranged 4 across in 2 rows for a total of 8 riders per car. There are
three inversions, speeds of 46 MPH and the ride last 2:30. Mystery Mine
